Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig announced Wednesday that Iowa’s Department of Agriculture and land Stewardship will reinstate its cover crop acreage discount program. Iowa farmers and landowners planting fall cover crops will be eligible to claim their spring crop insurance discount of $5 per acre.
Beginning Dec. 1, Iowa farmers and landowners may enroll in the Iowa Cover Crop Insurance discount program. Iowa cover crop acres are not eligible for other state or U.S. Department of Agriculture natural resources conservation service cost share programs.
