Canopius, a global reinsurance company, has entered the domestic U.S. excess casualty market under the Canopius US insurance company paper and appointed Judi DiBattista, US head of excess, to lead the company’s expansion into the U.S. insurance sector and enhancement of its excess casualty capabilities.
According to a press release distributed to Insurance Business, Canopius will specialize in commercial risks, offering a “specific approach” to niche verticals such as construction, commercial real estate, hospitality, manufacturing and technology.
“E&S excess casualty has been one of the industry’s fastest-growing markets, and this growth has presented Canopius with an opportunity to enter and provide a specialized solution to our clients,” Laurie Banez, chief casualty officer of Canopius, said in the release.
